Student Sexual Abuse – 2nd El Monte High School District Lawsuit
Allegedly, decades of student sexual abuse were allowed to take place at Rosemead High School. A second lawsuit, including nine women, claimed that the El Monte Union High School District not only allowed but cultivated sexual abuse and protected predators who were abusing school students. The suit alleges a long history and pattern of sexual abuse that existed at the high school.

Systematic Failures to Protect Children at the School District
Months before this second suit was filed against the school district, an initial suit of sexual misconduct at school was filed where several plaintiffs alleged abuse. According to attorneys representing the women in this most current suit, the school district allowed the school to be a “predator playground.”
In this suit, it is said that the abuse goes back far beyond what the claimants allege happened to them. When claimants told their mothers about what they were subjected to and what they went through, their mothers also said they were abused, too, while attending the school.
Non-reporting of student sexual abuse incidents at the hands of teachers and coaches represents the district’s “systematic failures” to keep the school body safe. According to some accusers, the abusers were known to the school district. Still, the school district let them continue to teach and supervise students.
Some of the accusations in the suit include teachers who were kissing students, exposing themselves to students, groping students, and talking about sexual intercourse. The students who were subjected to such inappropriate behavior and acts were 17 years old and younger. Some young victims said that they were abused when they were 15 years of age. Each victim in the lawsuit has been identified as “Jane Doe.” The abuse that students had to suffer was decades long.
The question now is what is Rosemead High School doing and what steps are being taken to protect any further students from abuse. The school, though, has not yet responded to requests for comment.
