Riverside Man Accused of Sexually Abusing Several Children
A Riverside man was recently accused of sexually abusing children and arraigned before Riverside County Superior Court Judge. Antonio Robles Chavez, 65, pleaded not guilty to the charges of sexually abusing several children at his wife’s family daycare, Chavez Family Daycare. Chavez’s wife operated the daycare out of their home, which is located on Blue Sky Street.
Victims of sexual abuse can suffer far-reaching and life-long adverse impacts on their lives. These individuals are more likely to develop depression and anxiety, have high rates of suicide and self-harm, and have a distorted view of sexuality. The ability to enjoy life and take advantage of opportunities for enrichment and advancement can be limited due to one’s childhood sexual abuse.
If you were the victim of child sexual abuse or if you know someone who has been victimized, you may be entitled to financial compensation for the harm you suffered. Our California child sexual abuse attorney at Beck Law P.C. can review your case and discuss with you what options you have for recovery.
Charges of Sexually Abusing Several Children Against Antonio Robles Chavez
Antonio Robles Chavez is facing child sexual abuse charges, including
- Multiple counts of lewd acts on a child under the age of 14.
- Sentence-enhancing crimes of taking advantage of a position of trust and targeting vulnerable victims.
On July 3, Chavez was arrested after the police investigated allegations that a 4-year-old girl was sexually abused while in the custody of his wife’s home daycare. After the authorities connected with other families of children who went to the daycare, the investigation found that a total of three children allegedly suffered sexual abuse at the hands of Chavez while they were at the daycare.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
Chavez Has Been Booked and Held on Bail
After the arrest, Chavez was taken to Robert Presley Detention Center, where he was booked. He is being held on $1 million bail. There is no documentation or evidence that Chavez has any prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
A preliminary hearing is expected to be held later in July at the Riverside Hall of Justice. The purpose of the hearing is to determine if there is enough evidence of his abusing several children to take Chavez to trial.
The Chavez Family Daycare
While three victims have been identified by law enforcement, the Riverside Police Department’s Sexual Assault-Child Abuse Unit has detectives who believe that more victims exist. A complaint has been filed with the state’s licensing body to suspend operations of the Chavez Family Daycare, which has been licensed to operate since 2010.
