Pastor Jose Alcides Vasquez Arrested for Child Sexual Abuse
Jose Alcides Vasquez, 47, a head pastor at Camino De Santidad Church in Menifee, California, was recently arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting several female minors. Allegations came to light after a high school administrator informed an Ontario Police School Resource Officer that a female juvenile student was sexually abused by her neighbor. The abuse was alleged to have happened at Vasquez’s former Ontario residence.
Child sexual abuse is a widespread global problem that spans across many different societies. Perceptions of religious leaders as safe and trusted individuals can often overshadow predatory behavior. As a result, when a religious leader is accused of sexual assault, it is often a shocking revelation for their religious community.
When child sexual abuse happens, both criminal outcomes and civil repercussions can befall the perpetrator. Victims may be able to recover financial compensation for their damages through civil legal actions.

The Arrest of Jose Alcides Vasquez
The initial accusation of assault came in August 2021. This triggered Ontario police to begin an investigation. Then, recently, in July 2024, another victim told their story of abuse at the hands of Vasquez. This additional victim and other incriminating evidence that was discovered was enough for the police to arrest Vasquez on September 5, 2024, at his current Menifee home.
Jose Alcides Vasquez was taken to West Valley Detention Center and booked on multiple felony sex crimes charges.
Considering that Vasquez has worked for many different churches as a pastor and volunteer, he would have had access to children. Authorities are speculating that there are other victims who have not stepped up and told their stories.
Victims are urged to come forward if they were sexually abused or to report tips.
