Matthew Daniel Johnson Crimes Against Children
Law enforcement first searched Mathew Daniel Johnson’s home in March 2020. They found and seized many videos that showed very young boys engaging in sexual activity. According to the authorities, these children were under the age of 12, and some of them were only three years old.
Johnson said that he strategically hid two camera recording devices in two separate bathrooms. According to his admissions, he used a pen-shaped recording device and placed it in a toilet paper holder in a La Sierra Academy bathroom. In addition, he also had a recording device hidden in a Junior High School Bible Camp’s bathroom, where he worked as a chaperone. Johnson also indicated that he used a minor in January 2020 to make child pornography.
Child Pornography in the United States
Although child pornography is not just an American problem, the United States has more online child abuse content than any other country in the world. This reporting comes from the Internet Watch Foundation based in the UK, whose goal is to identify abusive content and have it taken down. The IWF found that the US had as high as 30% of the global total of online child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The majority, 89%, were image hosts, file-storing cyberlockers, and image stores.
Previously, the Netherlands hosted the most CSAM in the world, but after 2016, that changed. Now, The United States is the largest host of online CSAM. There are several factors that have led to this shift, with one big reason being that several prolific CSAM sites have since moved their servers out of the Netherlands and into the US.

IWF recently reported that their work led them to assess a webpage every one-and-a-half minutes. They found that every two minutes, a webpage would show a child suffering from sexual abuse. Online CSAM is a widespread problem that does not discriminate across country lines, but the United States currently has more online CSAM than any other country around the globe.
